9,000 rooms including a few important halls. Supreme Harmony Hall is the place where the
emperor's carved dragons chair was set for imperial edicts.
Persevering Hall of the Forbidden City is for royal banquets, and Palace Heavenly Purity

at east side of the Palace. The Clock Museum displays old clocks which were gifts from the West.
There are many courtyards and the Imperial Gardens is a beautiful garden in the huge Forbidden
City of Beijing.
Tiananmen is the second most famous structure in China. With 98 acres area, this 34.7 meters
high historical structure was built in 1651. From its high balcony the imperial edicts were
read in China's ancient dynasties.
Temple of Heaven, another Beijing tourist attractions, is a great
architectural design of Ming Dynasty. The round tower is surrounded by round wall called
Echo Wall. The temple is set in the middle of a 667-acre park with many old pine trees and
cypress trees with over 500 years old.
Summer Palace of Beijing is the most beautiful imperial park in China. This 717-acre garden was
built around the Kunming Lake in 12th century and was expanded in Qing dynasty for emperors vacation.
There is a 17-arch bridge across the Kunming Lake. The Long Corridor of Summer Palace extends
728 meters along the Lake to the famous Qingyan Boat.
The Great Wall, the most mighty monument in China, was built in 5th century as defensive ramparts
against their enemies. As a tourist attractions in Beijing region, The Great Wall is also one of the
wonders of the world, and a world famous land mark. This Great Wall is about 3,946 miles long
and is the only object visible from the space.
Other Beijing historic and tourist attractions include the Great Hall of People
which is the most important hall for political and economic meetings; Chinese Ethnic Culture Park
which shows the traditional culture of Chinese 56 ethnic groups; Grand View Garden which displays the
scenes described in the famous Chinese novel "Dream of the Red Chamber"; Ming Tombs which is the
burial place of 13 Ming emperors and 23 empresses; Fragrant Hills Park which is used to be the
recreational place of the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing emperors; Beihai Park which includes famous
attractions White Dagoba and Nine Dragon Screen.
